The IoD welcomed today’s Conservative proposals for a reordering of local and regional government at a time when businesses feel that their voice is no longer being heard in the ‘town halls of Britain’.
Commenting on the Conservative announcements, IoD Director General, Miles Templeman said:
“The Conservative proposals for a Business Increase Bonus and mandatory votes on Business Rate Supplements are extremely welcome. For too long, businesses have contributed to local government coffers without any say over its use. If today’s Conservative proposals open the book on some much needed improvement to the failing relationships between businesses and their local authorities then this in itself would be a worthwhile victory.”
