Commenting on the Bank of England’s decision, Graeme Leach, Chief Economist at the IoD, said
“Against the backdrop of an impending general election and a still weak economy, this is the decision we expected. With the business environment remaining difficult there is compelling case for keeping monetary policy loose for the foreseeable future. Any change in front of an election might also have been perceived as having a political motive.”
