Responding to Justine Greening’s comments to the House of Commons this morning, in which she emphasised the Government’s commitment to the UK’s aviation competitiveness, Simon Walker, Director General of the Institute of Directors, said:
“The Government’s stated commitment to more airport capacity is welcome, but we urgently need to see action to back up the rhetoric. Less than 36 hours after the Chancellor’s statement of support in the Budget, the consultation on the future of aviation infrastructure was delayed by several months. British business needs more airport capacity so that we can reach out to the world, and the world’s businesses can easily reach us – we need a decision to be taken soon, not more delays.”
